- Not necessarily... It could be an advanced emulation system. It would have
- to be horribly advanced if it allows you to play Doom and Virtual Fighter on
- the Amiga, at the same time, in anything approaching normal framerates,
- though.
-
- A lot of emulation stuff is interchangeable. My Z80 emulation from fMSX is
- also used in the Atari TT version, it may one day find its way into an
- Amstrad emulation (assuming the author ever upgrades to 68020 ;-) ), all
- with little or no modification. In a dynamic recompilation system it would
- be even better because the really interesting part - the analysis logic -
- would be the same for most processors (I think the whole thing could be
- table-driven). The analysis logic could be the Q-OS, and the processor
- modules would be the tables.
-
- At the same time I feel they are incredibly optimistic if they think they
- can emulate a saturn on an 680x0-based amiga and still keep a good
- framerate. I mean, dynamic recompilation is a very powerful technique but it
- doesn't make your actual CPU faster than it is...
-
- How many programs out there use DR anyway? I always believed that Emplant PC
- would do something like that but it's performance suggests otherwise.
- Anybody know more?
